My uncle Chuks was a cool man and it may seem rather odd to start a speech as disheartening on such a light note but that was really the first and longest lasting impression I had of him. He was always so cool and calm but still had a smart, “let’s get down to business” way about him. He was mostly quiet and I’m sure that these video tributes will reveal many different sides that some of us weren’t opportune to meet or engage with in this lifetime.
In our time together, I’ve caught him being witty, chatty and also snarky. It’s good to live one’s life like that, preserving parts of oneself for the times and people that matter.
Of all the facets and parts of my Uncle Chuks that will be spoken of today, let the brightest light shine on the family man that he was; in his nuclear and extended family. How many times did he run to our rescue to put out little fires without any judgment? I bless God for the brother, uncle and father as I also pray the eternal rest be granted to his soul, through the mercy of God Chiemelie Oddie-Okeke
