“Your memory is my keepsake
With which we can never part
God has you in his keeping
I have you in my heart ……. Forever
Rest In Peace my brother/friend/ confidant and everything
ADIEU” Akunatakasi
Akunatakasi, you were a brother/friend /hero and confidant. You were everything nice to everybody but to me, I never envisaged life without him. I have come to see the vanity in our world and see the world differently since your death. Chuks had the patience and wisdom of a mother yet the spirited gentle touch of a friend. I can still remember in 1972 when all my older siblings were entering boarding secondary school and I was handed over to you to take care of me. Since then we have had a father/son relationship despite your just being a few years older than me. I have learnt and seen you as my greatest confidant and never will do anything without your knowledge. We sometimes disagree but I always know that I will hear the brutal truth from you. You always had my back and I am somehow lost without you. How I wish I can take back the hands of time and bring you back but GOD knows all. Thank you for continually inspiring me to do my best.
A gentleman that acted in noble motives of men; A gentleman that converts sorrow to laughter for all; A mentor that lives in the heart of all; A man whose name remains an access to possibilities. He lights up home and offices. He lives on in us, and He never left our stories. Akunatakasi, you are my and everybody's HERO. We will be there for your children. “You carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.” You help me strive for goals. I found guidance, friendship, discipline and love, everything in one person. And that person was you. Rest in Peace, my Mentor Barrister Chuks Okeke. I hope I can stop the tears.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation Revelation 21:4”
